My First Blog...
Today I am opening a door to a new chapter to my life. I am starting my first blog.
In the past to have clarity in my thoughts, I have opened blank documents in Word, and just written until I couldn’t any more. I found by getting my thoughts written down helped me to think things through ideas and also reflect on negative thoughts I may be having. Whether this was something troubling me during the day or the week, by journaling it down I felt a lot better. Journaling was a great tool for me to get rid of anxiety I may be having!
When I came across the youtube video by Ali Abdaal ‘How writing online made me a millionaire’, (check out the video below!)I didn’t expect to be opening another door in my life, however, that is the magical thing in life, there is always a surprise around the corner. I knew about blogging but I didn’t know how easy it would be to set up until today!
Jump starting my blogging adventure…
When I blog I will be able to express my creativity and expand my knowledge on various topics I am very interested in and that are important to me.
Whilst watching the Ali Abdaal video above Austin Kleon (author of ‘Show your work’), says someone said to him, “You write every day, so this means you have lots to say” and he explains “but in fact, no it is the opposite.” He has more to say because he chooses to sit and write and learn new topics. I find this really motivating and this is a reason I want to write.
I want to not only learn more about how to write but be able to do so by reaching an audience that is also interested in what I am talking about and this can range from how the Renaissance has inspired me to what is going on in sports. The idea of acquiring this knowledge and sharing it with others to create a community is really motivating for me.
Blogging will also allow me to become more confident and come out of my shell. Just like Austin Kleon says writing ‘is a way of communicating with yourself’. By posting weekly I will be able to give myself better mental clarity.
The comfort zone is where dreams go to die!
I personally feel at the moment I am living in my comfort zone. By stepping outside of my comfort zone, at first it will be daunting, but all growth can be uncomfortable.
I believe by getting out of my comfort zone, I will be able to…
Learn about how far I can push myself
Be able to grow and push through challenging times
Boost my creativity
Reach new audiences
Also, having the opportunity to fail in a positive way will allow me to push my limits regularly and help me to grow. I am going to really try and turn this around and not allow my dreams to die
My Why?
In my life, I feel the most important thing I want to be able to do is help people. Whether that be on a daily basis through working, volunteering or online, this will be at the forefront of my mind when blogging and speaking to you as my reader.
I am also someone who is interested in many many topics, from art, new technology and sports to books. I want to be able to share the things I learn about each day with a new community of people.
My Aim’s
I aim to write a post every week. This will indeed be a challenge, but I've wanted and needed it for a long time.
I’ll end on a motivational note with a quote. One that really got me thinking.
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
Tony Robbins.
